Family stunned to find ham butties BANNED from Blackpool Pleasure Beach

A mum visiting Blackpool Pleasure Beach with two young children has been left in disbelief after being refused entry with ham butties.

Rebecca Koncienzcy, 33 and husband Sean Chapman, 34, from Wirral , were happy to be searched by security upon attending the site unaware that they would be breaching picnic policy.

The picnic also included sausage rolls, hummus, crisps and sushi - yet these items were not considered an issue.

Echo journalist Rebecca said she is “fuming” with the theme park, adding: “Everything else is fine, the all other food is fine.

“We had a middle-class banquet going on... yet all that was refused was the humble ham sandwich.”

Rebecca forked out £88 for tickets to the theme park for her family and bought a picnic to keep costs down.

But she was left unhappy when told to pay an extra £5 for a locker to put her sandwiches in because they were against the fairground's policy.

Rebecca said her husband Sean ate as many of the sandwiches as he could before throwing the rest in the bin.

She added: “It’s unfair that they are essentially adding extra costs on to working families trying to treat their kids to a nice day out.

“We were told we could put our sandwiches in a locker just outside the park gates, but that cost a fiver.

“Next time we are going to Alton Towers.”

A warning on the Blackpool Pleasure Beach website states: "Due to the intensity of rides and attractions within the 42 acre site there is limited space and picnics and food are not permitted beyond the main entrance."

A spokesperson from Blackpool Pleasure Beach, said “Blackpool Pleasure Beach would like to apologise to the guests concerned that their arrival at Blackpool Pleasure Beach fell short of their expectations.

“Blackpool Pleasure Beach does have a picnic policy which can be found at https://www.blackpoolpleasurebeach.com/picnics-policy/ In addition to this, guests wishing to bring their own food can leave this in lockers provided and use our designated picnic area which is situated adjacent to the main park entrance.

“In this instance, after investigating what happened, the member of staff spotted the sandwiches and advised on the use of our lockers, however, they didn’t see the rest of the picnic.

"We apologise for this oversight and will ensure that further staff training will take place.”
