Family slammed for 'disgusting' state of table after dinner at Harvester

A family have been slammed for a 'lack of respect' after a photo was shared on social media showing the state they left a table in at Harvester.

It was posted on the Spotted: Colchester Facebook page, with napkins, food, menus and other rubbish under the table, on the surrounding floor and on the seats of the booth.

The photo was captioned: "I don’t care who you are, how often you get to go out to eat, how many kids you've got or how bad your day has been. It is NOT ok to go out to dinner and walk away from your table - leaving it in a state like this for somebody else to clear up.

"This is what happened in Harvester Colchester tonight. The poor young girl left with this disgusting mess didn’t know where to start."

It gained more than 4,300 shares and 3,200 comments from others who were disgusted by the state of what had been left behind.

The post said the staff member left to clear up 'didn't know where to start' (Spotted: Colchester/Facebook)

One replied: "I always consolidate everything when we are about to leave the table.

"Plates on top of one another, cutlery on top of plates, glasses grouped together etc. It’s called respect for yourself and others! I’m pleased to say my children automatically do that too."

A second said: "I've seen this kind of thing before - it's dreadful. No consideration for anyone."

A third wrote about a similar experience, saying: "A family left their table and floor as bad, if not worse, as this in Pizza Hut yesterday.

"I said to our waitress I hope they left you a big tip with all that to clean up. She said they hadn't left a tip. Makes me so cross people think it's ok to do this!"

Another added: "Great parenting. Parents should be ashamed."

One slammed the state of the table, ranting: "That’s disgusting!!!!! Even with my little lady we always tidy up and leave the table clean!!!"
