Family 'saying goodbyes' to Zack Molyneux, 5, as mum issues heartbreaking update

The family of Zack Molyneux have issued a devastating update on his condition as the festive period approaches.

Five-year-old Zack, from Eastham, was diagnosed with dozens of inoperable tumours in and around his brain after mum Sophie noticed a "turn" in the toddler's eye. He was given just four months to live in early 2021.

Now Zack's family say he "may not make it to Christmas" as his condition worsens. In an update, mum Sophie said: "Sadly this is a post I was hoping I wouldn't have to put up for a lot longer but the time is here and it doesn't matter if we were ready or not.

"Zack is now deteriorating and quickly. As you all will know Zack had his MRI Scan in October, well this sadly shown that his tumours have grown a lot and they are now getting worse each day.

"Zack is now paralysed on the right side of his body, he has lost most of the movement of his mouth and arm on the right side and each day is losing more and more movement of his right leg."

The toddler is now reportedly undergoing radiotherapy to make him more comfortable and ease his symptoms.

Sophie added: "Zack will start a one week course of radiotherapy, not as strong or as much has we had hoped but this will now just be to try and help him with his symptoms and hopefully get our little boy to Christmas, but right now that isn't looking likely and we won't know anymore till we see how he reacts to the radiotherapy while he's having it and in the days or weeks after it.

"Goodbyes from close family have now started but sadly this does mean that a lot of people won't get the chance to see Zack now, but the time Zack has left will be just making him comfortable and trying to make as many memories as we possibly can."
