Family's tribute to loving dad who died after falling into road in County Durham

A family has paid tribute to a dad who died after a collision in County Durham.

Gary Amos was struck by a Ford Transit Tipper on Durham Road, in Blackhill, Consett , at 9.55am on Tuesday, November 26.

The 59-year-old, from Consett, had got out of his vehicle after suffering a medical episode when he fell backwards into the road and into the path of an oncoming van.

He was taken to Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary with serious head injuries, but passed away a few days later.

In a statement, his wife, Debbie, said: “It is with deepest regret that I announce the death of my loving husband Gary Amos, who was involved in a tragic road related incident.

“He was a much loved husband and father and will be sadly missed. We wish to thank everyone for their support.”

An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision remains ongoing.
