Daughter lost 'part of her body' when mum suddenly disappeared

The heartbroken family of a missing mum said there will be a place waiting for her at the table on Christmas day.

Carol Mighall disappeared from home nearly one year ago on January 4 and hasn't been seen since.

The 52-year-old, from Birkenhead, was last seen on CCTV in a convenience store on Rodney Street in the Wirral town centre.

She had bought a litre bottle of vodka and 20 cigarettes and then headed in the direction of Birkenhead Central Station.

Her family have been out searching for her on a daily basis but remain in the dark over Carol's whereabouts nearly 12 months later.

On the day her mum disappeared, Carol's daughter Kayleigh Doyle, said it feels like part of her body went missing.

Kayleigh told the ECHO: "We were like each others shadows. We were always together and she was always with the kids.

"The kids miss her and all want her to come home."

Carol, 52, has five children and nine grandchildren who have all been out looking for her since the day of her disappearance.

Kayleigh said: "The look on my kids faces every time they see a picture of her - it's the look of heartbreak. We miss her everyday."

Carol's husband of 36 years, David Doyle, recently suffered a stroke which he has affected his movement, meaning he can't go out looking for Carol as much as he used to.

David said he can't bear to watch the programmes he would usually watch on the TV with Carol and has recorded them all to watch with her.

Kayleigh said: "We're going to do Christmas day at home with my dad as we do every year.

"There will be a place there for her at the table and there will be a big bowl of carrots and turnips ready for her - she loved them.

If Carol came home on Christmas Day, Kayleigh said: "It would be the best Christmas we could ever have."

The 32-year-old said the hardest part about her mum's disappearance has been not knowing where she is.

Kayleigh said: "She could have a new identity, she could have a new life. It's going to sound very harsh and horrible but she could not be here anymore - she could have died.

"We've just got to carry on and hope she is still out there. I've got four kids you see that are keeping my hope going.

"We've got the support of our family and friends as well. We've got the best group of friends in my mum's road that help us through it all."

Kayleigh added: "If she doesn't want to come home message one of us; it doesn't have to be a family member it could be a friend or it could be the police, so we've got a bit of peace of mind that she's out there and she's fine, she's just not ready to come home.

"No one is angry with her. No one is going to shout at her. We just want her to come home."

Carol is described as white, 5ft 4ins tall, of slim build and with a pale complexion.

She has brown shoulder length hair, often worn in a ponytail.

Carol was last seen wearing a khaki coloured parka-style coat with grey fur on the hood, blue jeans and black and white speckled trainers.

She was also carrying a black handbag with a shoulder strap.

Carol has links to Birkenhead, Liverpool city centre and Chester.

Anyone who has seen Carol or knows of her whereabouts is asked to direct message on Twitter - @MerPolCC, call 101 or contact @missingpeople on 116 000.
