Family's heartbreaking tribute to 'kind' little girl who died after collapsing at school

The family of a little girl who died after collapsing at school have paid tribute to a 'genuinely good girl' who was 'kind and fearless'.

Rai-Lèyah Parveen Saddique, 10, collapsed at her school in Wakefield on Thursday, November 10 last year. She was rushed to hospital but tragically died.

After her tragic death, her family said it was believed that Rai had suffered a brain haemorrhage. She was described as a previously fit and healthy girl.

Now, family members have paid tribute to their beloved girl, YorkshireLive reports. Members of her family have set up a fundraiser to help raise money for a memorial bench and to take some stress off her parents.

Her auntie Leanne is hoping to raise £3,000. Leanne and her sister Lisa are taking part in dry January and finishing the challenge with a 10k run, dedicated to Rai.

Leanne said the loss was devastating and Rai had a huge impact on all those around her. In the fundraiser, Leanne wrote: "My sister Lisa and I are doing Dry January with a 10k run finisher!

"We want to dedicate the challenge to our precious niece who sadly passed away on 14/11/22 at age 10 after collapsing at school. The devastation of losing such a precious princess at such a young age has had a massive impact on so many people who loved, adored, and cherished her."

The fundraiser will raise money to send to Rai-Leyah's mum, Natalie, her brother, sister and nanna. A memorial bench is also being organised in memory of Rai.

Describing her niece, Leanne said: "Rai-Leyah was the kindest, sweetest & funniest girl you could ever hope to meet. She was so loved by all who knew her.

"She was full of energy and joy living life to the fullest. She was always throwing herself about tumbling around showing off her fab gymnastics skills.

"Rai-Leyah was fearless in racing the boys and being competitive. She embodied the spirit of inclusivity without even realising it.

"Fly high our angel - until the day you are reunited with your loved ones. God bless you sweetheart."
