Family's heartbreaking tribute in woods where man killed by falling tree

Tributes have been paid to a man killed when a tree branch fell on him while he was out walking his dog.

The man, who was in his 60s, died after he was hit by a falling tree branch while out walking his dog in Woolton on Tuesday morning.

Emergency services rushed to rushed to Black Woods in Woolton yesterday at 11am to try to save the man, who was sadly pronounced dead when they arrived.

The gates to the woods remained locked today and floral tributes have been placed by the entrance to the woodland.

One message placed by the gate appears to have been written by a family member of the man.

The heartfelt message, which does not give the man's name, reads: "Wishing you peace and love, Dad. Rest in peace."

Three flower bouquets have also been placed inside the woodland since yesterday.

Earlier, local residents told the ECHO they had repeatedly warned the council about dangerous and rotting trees in the woodland where the man was killed.

Multiple people who live close to the woods claimed to have repeatedly contacted the council over trees with rotting roots making them unstable.

However, the council declined to comment further while investigations are ongoing into the cause of the incident.
