Family's emotional statement amid search for Lothians man whose boat capsized

The family of an East Lothian man who remains missing after a boat capsized at the weekend have released an emotional statement.

Kieran Cowan, 23, was one of three men on a vessel which overturned in Loch Awe, Argyll and Bute, on Saturday.

Police and the coastguard have launched a wide-ranging search to locate him following the accident around 4.30pm.

Two other men on the boat, aged 23 and 27, were able to swim to the nearby island of Eilean Beath and raise the alarm.

Kieran's family released a statement via Police Scotland saying: "Kieran always sees the good in a bad situation. He has a heart of gold and loves life.

"He lights up the room with his infectious smile and his motto is: it is what it is."

Police Scotland's Dive and Marine Unit and mountain rescue teams are involved in the ongoing search for Kieran.

The Maritime Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB) are also looking into the circumstances around the boat capsizing.
