Family's devastation after 'clever and funny' girl, 14, dies in heatwave river tragedy

Tributes have been paid to a "clever and funny" girl, 14, who died after getting into trouble in a river.

Young Nieve McIsaac ran into difficulty in the River Teith, near to Carse of Lecropt Road, Bridge of Allan, Scotland.

Emergency services swarmed the scene at around 5.50pm on Tuesday, July 12 and the teenager was airlifted to the Royal Children’s Hospital in Glasgow for urgent treatment.

She sadly died in hospital four days later.

Her heartbroken family have since paid tribute to their "much-loved" relative, the Daily Record reports.

"Nieve was a clever, funny, and beautiful young girl," they said.

"She was a much-loved daughter, sister, granddaughter and niece, and we have been left devastated by her death.

"We wish to ask for privacy at this very difficult time."

Officers are now providing support to Nieve's family and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

Detective Sergeant Craig Faulds of Forth Valley CIID added: "This is a heartbreaking incident in which a young girl has died.

"The family has asked that they be given privacy at this very difficult time and I would like to ask the public and media to please respect the family's wishes as they deal with their unimaginable loss."
