Family's anguish as Denver, 18, missing from Bristol home

UPDATE: Bristol Live understands Denver has been found.

We are awaiting further confirmation.

A woman has spoken of her anguish after her nephew went missing nine days ago.

Denver Sene, 18, has been reported missing by his aunt Elsa Watkins, after he didn't return to his home in Bristol, last Monday night (March 29).

The teenager, who is 6ft 9ins tall, made contact with his brother and other friends at the start of last week, but since the weekend and the start of this week, no one close to Elsa has heard directly from him.

Elsa, from Easton, has submitted a missing persons report, and an appeal from family members has been shared widely on social media.

Elsa, who has officially raised Denver and his siblings since the teenager was just three, said his brother and cousins keep hearing rumours about where Denver might be, but nothing concrete, and they have not heard from him themselves.

Avon and Somerset police have urged anyone with information about where Denver is to get in touch with them, or with close family members, and said they are treating him as a missing person, and appealing for him to get in touch too.

Elsa told Bristol Live the gentle giant had a bit of a row with a family member last Monday evening and went to visit his cousin late on Monday night.

"He was upset because he'd had this argument and they said 'stay the night here', but he didn't," said Elsa.

"He didn't come home and I wasn't too worried, thinking he'd gone to his dad's, but Monday night was the last I saw him, and I didn't even realise he'd gone out on Monday night," she said.

Since then, he replied a few times to his brother, and he was last seen in the St Paul's area of Bristol on Thursday last week, but his aunt, brother, cousin and close family members said they are worried about what has happened to him.

"He sent a text or two last week to his brother, but that's not hearing from him - anyone with his phone could have sent those texts.

"I've got messages from friends of his brother saying they'd heard things, but until he has spoken to me, or someone in the family tells me he has spoken to them and told them he's OK, then I am still very worried," she said.

"He's 6ft 9in, he can't be missed, someone will know where he is," she added. "All I want to know is if he's OK, and at the moment I don't know that. I just need to hear his voice, or from someone who has specifically spoken to him."

A police spokesperson said: "We would urge anyone who knows where Denver is, has seen him or spoken to him to get in touch with the police.

"Alternatively, if Denver himself reads this, we would urge him to get in touch with a family member or with us, to let us know he's ok," he added.
