Family rushed to hospital after cooking dinner with 'vegetable' that turned out to be cannabis

An entire family were rushed to hospital after a prankster gave them a bag of cannabis -- but told them it was a leafy green vegetable.

One of the victims is thought to have been given the bag of weed as a prank by a vegetable vender - who told him it was fenugreek.

The family then used it to make popular potato side dish aloo-methi using the ingredients - but quickly stared to feel dizzy.

They managed to alert a neighbour before they passed out and were taken to hospital.

Police arrested a man and seized the remaining drugs.

Photos show a massive bag of what appears to be cannabis, reportedly taken from the family home.

Aloo-methi is fenugreek leaves and potatoes sauteed in garlic and spices.

The family were able to alert a neighbour about the incident before passing out a short time later (Newslions / SWNS.COM)

A local source said: "After heavy consumption of the drug, the family started losing consciousness but happened to inform their neighbours before passing out.

"They were rushed to a hospital where all six of their conditions remain stable."

The incident took place on June 27 in Miyaganj village of Kannauj city, India.
