Family release tribute to 'much loved' man following his death on busy city road

A family have released a tribute to a man who died in after being hit by a truck in Newport.

Jordan Routley, 21, from Newport, was taken to the Royal Gwent Hospital but later died as a result of his injuries.

The incident happened on Chepstow Road at around 11.50pm on Saturday April 20, between Kenilworth Road and Somerton Road, and involved a white Isuzu truck.

A tribute from Mr Routleys family, said: "Our beloved Jordan lost his fight for life after a tragic accident on Chepstow Road (Beechwood) Newport. Jordan is still very much loved by all his family and friends. We ask for privacy to grieve and come to terms with our loss.”

A Gwent police spokesman added: "We are appealing for information from anyone that could help with our investigation. Anyone with information, or dashcam footage, is asked to call Gwent Police on 101, quoting log 686 of 20/04/19."

The road was closed for several hours following the incident and people reported hearing sirens and a heavy police presence.

No arrests have been made so far.
