The family of tragic West Lothian 21-year-old man Robby Mullen thanked the local community in Fauldhouse after his funeral.
Robby’s parents and grandparents relayed their gratitude after locals rallied together and raised over £20,000 to pay for the funeral.
Locals organised an online fundraising page and held charity car washing and football events.
The Fauldhouse AFC player was laid to rest at Fauldhouse Cemetery on Friday after a private service at the funeral parlour on Longridge Road.
Robby’s parents, Christine and Robert, took time out to pay tribute to the village online last night for coming together for their son.
In his post Robert thanked a remarkable amount of people from the area who had reached out to help, and had a touching message for his daughter Aleisha.
He said: “Christine and I would like to thank from the bottom of our hearts.
“All our family and friends for their huge love and support for the tragic loss of our boy Robby.
“We would also like to say a massive thanks to Brownings funeral directors for their first class and very efficient service, and Lisette the minister for her up lifting service.
“Big thanks to Fauldhouse Amateurs, he had great times with all you guys.
“Overwhelmed is definitely an understatement at how we feel from the beautiful cards, kind words and to all our neighbours in the wee scheme that Robby grew up in.
“Robby was a larger than life character, very loving and a gentle soul.
“He will be forever missed by his mum and myself and Fern(dog).
“Would like to end by saying that we are forever proud of our girl Aleisha, you’ve been a rock, ma lassie. Thanks to the people of Fauldhouse far and wide.”
Robert also thanked a host of others, including Robby’s sweetheart Amber, Lainey at The Grange, Brian Connell, Mo from Nice and Spicey and Hoi Sing Chinese for catering, Village Car Wash, Flinstones Fitness and various football clubs.
His grandparents, Jean and John, also thanked the village for their help and says it brought the family “so much comfort.”
Jean said: “It is with a heavy heart that I write this, I have to say, both John and I are so proud to belong to this wee village of Fauldhouse.
“You all came together and gave our family overwhelming support, it truly was outstanding, especially for Scooter, Christine, Aleisha, Jamie and Lily-Rose.
“Your generosity and kindness gave us all so much comfort. John and I would like to thank you all from the bottom of our hearts. “Also, family, friends and neighbours for your many cards and flowers.
“Thanks to Robby’s football club and his friends for all the amazing help and support.
“Our beloved grandson was a lovely, caring, happy go lucky young man, he was loved by many as was shown on Friday, the turnout was outstanding.
“Thanks, thanks all of you. He will be sorely missed by all. Sleep easy our Precious boy, till we meet again, Gran and Granda.”
Speaking to The Courier, Robby’s uncle Wull and auntie Nicola also thanked the community for their efforts.
They said their boys, Cameron and William, will always hold a special place in their heart for the cousin Robby.
