Family plunged into grief as tributes paid to Irishman killed in motorbike crash

A family was plunged into grief for a second time when their son was killed in a motorbike crash - nine years after his brother drowned.

Tributes were paid to engineer Allan Byrne, 25, who died in Tipperary on Saturday evening.

The crash involved two motorcycles and a tractor and trailer.

Gardai and ambulance crews attended the scene of the collision, which happened on the N74 at Moatequarter, Kilfeacle, at around 5pm.

It’s understood Allan’s uncle Eoin Ryan, 33, was the other motorcyclist.

He was seriously injured and was taken to University Hospital Limerick.

Allan’s death is the second tragedy to hit the family after his brother Dean drowned in a swimming accident in the River Suir in 2011. Tipperary councillor Declan Burgess said: “The family have been hit big time.

“He was mad into motorbikes for a long time. Motorbikes and soccer would have been his passion.

“We’re all thinking of Eoin and hoping he pulls through.”

Allan’s body was removed from the scene and taken to University Hospital Waterford where a post-mortem took place.

Loved ones in Cashel were comforting relatives including heartbroken parents Liam and Shirley and his brother Kevin.

Family friend Zoey Clegg wrote on Facebook: “R.I.P Allan Bryne an absolute pet. Thoughts are with your family.”

The tractor driver, a 21-year-old man, was uninjured.
