Family petitions CSD over son's 'murder'

The parents of a Myanmar man who was killed and his body dumped into the Tha Chin River six months ago have sought the help of the Crime Suppression Division (CSD) to catch the killer, saying the local investigation is going nowhere.

Muang Thein, 50, his wife Mi Khaing and their 19-year-old son Thu, visited CSD headquarters yesterday to ask division chief Maitree Chimcherd for help.

Lawyer Ronnarong Kaewphet said Min Khaing Ou's body was found floating in the Tha Chin River near a pier in front of Wat Theprattanaram in Ban Phaeo district, Samut Sakhon, on Feb 11 this year.

He had an injury resembling a gunshot wound to his left ear and bruises on his body. His hands were tied.

Afterwards, a former village headman, accompanied by a police officer, met with his clients and offered them 100,000 baht cash in exchange for dropping the case, Mr Ronnarong said.

The CSD has accepted the case for further investigation.
