Family pay tribute to 'selfless' mother killed in horror Chigwell collision

Tributes have been paid to a “loving” mum who was killed in a horror collision with a car in Chigwell.

Marie Theobald, 48, was walking pets Riley and Honey when she was hit by a white Seat Leon.

Officers were called to Manford Way on Friday just after 5pm following reports that a car had collided with a pedestrian.

A woman was pronounced dead at the scene, despite the efforts of paramedics.

The driver failed to stop at the scene. Police located the car shortly after the collision and a man has since been arrested and taken into police custody.

In a statement released on Christmas Eve, Ms Theobald’s family said: “Marie was a loving mother, daughter, sister, niece and friend. Marie was an honest, hardworking, selfless woman who would do anything for anyone. Marie always put others first.

“The dogs Riley and Honey were much loved members of the family. They adored Marie as she adored them. May they all rest in perfect peace together.

“The family ask for their privacy to be respected at this time.”

Anyone with information and any witnesses yet to speak with police are asked to call 101, ref CAD 5312/22dec.
