Family pay tribute to man who died after being mowed down by car outside Scots hotel

The family of a man who tragically died after being knocked down in B lackburn said he will be sorely missed.

Michael Slevin was struck by a car outside the Happy Valley Hotel, Ladeside Road at around 12.05am on Monday, February 14.

Emergency services to race after reports of the incident.

The 65-year-old sustained life threatening injuries and was rushed to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, where he was sadly pronounced dead.

A 45-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident and has been released pending further enquiry.

Michael’s heartbroken family said: “Michael was a well-liked local man and he will be sorely missed by all his friends and family.

“Our family would like to thank both the professionals and members of the public who assisted at the scene.

"We would appreciate our privacy at this very difficult time.”
