The family of a 20-year-old man who died after he was struck by a car during a fight in Brighton have paid tribute to a “beloved son, brother and friend”.
Suel Miguel Monteiro Delgado, 20, from Crawley, suffered serious head injuries in the incident in Marine Parade at 5.20am on Sunday and died in hospital.
In a statement issued through Sussex Police, his family said: “Suel was a beloved son, brother and friend.
“He always took care of his family and he will be sadly missed.”
Police were called to a report of a large group of people fighting on the seafront.
As they responded, it was reported that three of the group had then been struck by a BMW X6 which was later abandoned nearby.
Detectives from the Surrey and Sussex Major Crime Team launched a murder investigation after Mr Delgado’s death.
Two other men, aged 18 and 22, were also seriously injured and remain in a serious condition in hospital, police said.
A 32-year-old man arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm has been released under investigation, while a 33-year-old man held on Monday on suspicion of attempted murder remains in custody.
Sussex Police said the incident was not terror related.
