Family of boy, 15, killed in hit and run say he will 'always be in our heart'

The family of a teenager who was killed in a hit and run in Wirral has paid tribute to their "funny, kind and sensitive boy".

Jack Jones, from Woodchurch, died after being knocked off his bicycle on the evening of April 26.

Emergency services were called to Manor Drive in Upton at around 9.45pm. The driver failed to stop at the scene.

A 22-year-old man suspected of being the driver was arrested and a second man, a 48-year-old from Birkenhead, was also arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop after a road accident.

Today his family paid tribute to Jack, saying: "Jack was a funny, kind and sensitive boy. He loved being with friends and outdoors, just hanging out, being a typical 15-year-old boy.

"He will be hugely missed by everybody, and he was very much loved by all.

"We all love you very much, Jack, you will always be in our heart and thoughts xx."

People across Wirral were deeply saddened by the news, with many offering prayers for Jack and condolences for his family and friends.

Many have also chosen to lay flowers near a tree on Manor Drive. Among the cards one simply wrote "RIP Jack".

Another said: "RIP Jack. Love and missing you. See you soon, Will."
