Family pay tribute to a 'true gentleman' killed in Haverfordwest crash

The family of a motorcyclist who died in a crash in Haverfordwest have paid tribute to a "true gentleman" and "larger than life character".

Laurence Stephens, 38, died at the scene on Saturday afternoon after his blue Suzuki motorbike collided with a white VW transporter van.

The motorcyclist, known as Compo, was travelling on Dale Road at 2.45pm when the incident took place.

Dale Road, Park Corner Road and Palmerston Road were all closed for several hours following the crash, which happened on the junction known as Palmerston Cross, near Haverfordwest Cricket Club.

In a statement released by police, Mr Stephen's family said: "He was a devoted family man, a treasured husband, father, son, brother and uncle.

"A much loved member of the community who was regarded as a true gentleman by his many friends, and a larger than life character by all who knew him.

"He will be so sorely missed."

Police are now looking for a woman wearing a "striped top" present at the scene who who might have witnessed the crash

Anyone who knows the woman is asked to call Pembrokeshire Roads Policing Unit on 101 to help the investigation.
