Family pay tribute to 18-year-old 'with heart of gold' killed in motorbike crash

The heartbroken family of a teenager who was killed in a motorbike crash today paid tribute to him.

Liam Houghton, 18, from Rock Ferry, sadly died in hospital following the crash on New Chester Road in Wirral on Friday.

The 18-year-old was riding his motorbike near to the junction of Procter Road shortly before 7.30pm when he was involved in a collision with a silver Mercedes.

He was rushed to hospital where he sadly died from his injuries a short time later.

Paying tribute to Liam, a former cadet, his family described him as a "free spirit" with "a heart of gold".

In a heartfelt statement they said: “Liam was a free spirit, he had a heart of gold and he’d go out of his way to help others.

“He’ll be missed by so many, life will never be the same again our jigsaw will always be missing a piece.

“A much loved son, brother, uncle, grandson and friend has been taken from us far too soon.

"The house feels so quiet and empty without you here with us.”

Merseyside Police said the driver of the car involved stopped at the scene and is assisting police with their enquiries.
