Family of young mum who died after being hit by car looking for answers about her death

The family of a young mum who died after being knocked down by a car in Caldercruix are begging for answers about her tragic death.

The 22-year-old, who has been named locally as Shannon Linden, died at the scene after being hit on the A89 Airdrie Road at 11.45pm on Sunday.

Devastated friends and loved ones paid tribute to the young mum on social media, while urging anyone with information to speak to police.

One relative wrote: “Please come forward if you have any information to give. Doesn’t matter how small it may be. We, the family, need answers.”

A friend added: “Please if anyone has just one wee bit of info that could help please lift the phone. Family are devastated.”

Another wrote: “Rest easy, Shannon Linden. Absolutely gutted. Took far too young.” Detective Constable Lyndsay McKinnon, of Coatbridge CID, said: “Our thoughts at this time are with the family and friends of the woman who lost her life.

“We are particularly interested to speak to anyone who was on the A89 before the crash, and may have seen Shannon walking.”

Investigators have issued an appeal for help from members of the public who may have been in the area around the time of the collision.

Detective Constable Lyndsay McKinnon, of Coatbridge CID, said: “This was a serious incident and our thoughts at this time are with the family and friends of the woman who lost her life.

“Our enquiries into the cause of the crash are continuing and I would ask anyone who saw what happened, and has not yet spoken to officers, to come forward.

“We are particularly interested to speak to anyone who was on the A89 before the crash, and may have seen the deceased walking.

“Anyone with information or anyone who may dash-cam footage which can help the investigation is asked to contact police on 101, quoting incident number 4229 of May 16.”
