Family of William Scott thank police dog who found his body in Edinburgh a year ago

The family of a pensioner whose body was recovered from the Water of Leith a year ago have paid tribute to the police dog who found him.

There was a high-profile search for 90-year-old William Scott, who disappeared from Leith on December 11, 2018.

His body was found near the bridge at Ocean Drive on January 4, 2019.

A police dog called Otis located the missing man, ending a heartbreaking period of uncertainty for his family.

Mr Scott's young relatives got to meet PD Otis at Police Scotland's Fettes HQ later in 2019.

Mr Scott's granddaughter tweeted her thanks to the force on Saturday, a year since his body was recovered.

@Mrscupcake79 said: "A year ago today, PD Otis (the very best boy) found my Grampa’s body after he had been missing for over 3 wks.

"We’ll always be very grateful to @polscotdogs and @EdinburghPolice for giving us as much peace of mind as possible."
