Family of Rutherglen historian David Jackson invite friends to attend his funeral

The loving family of proud Ruglonian and highly respected local historian, David Jackson, are inviting friends to pay their respects when he is laid to rest on Wednesday.

David passed away peacefully in his sleep, just days before his 74th birthday, at his birthplace in Blackfaulds Road – a house that had been the family home since 1933.

Having led a fit, heathy and active lifestyle, the dad-of-three and granda-of-two died on November 3 of heart disease he didn’t know he had.

A private family service will be held at St Columbkille’s Church, of which he was a pass-keeper, at 1pm, followed by a burial at around 2pm on top of the hill at Rutherglen Cemetery, overlooking the Royal Burgh he loved so dearly.

Relatives and friends are welcome to say farewell, safe and socially distanced, in the church grounds, on Main Street, or at the cemetery. The service will be streamed on YouTube and Facebook through St Collumbkille’s Church page.

An obituary will appear in Wednesday’s Rutherglen Reformer.
