Family of Rhys Bonner thank Glasgow for support following tragic body find in east end

The family of a 19-year-old missing from the east end have thanked those who shared appeals to find him following the tragic discovery of a body.

As reported on Glasgow Live, the search for Rhys Bonner lasted 15 days as the Barlanark community and beyond appealed to track him down.

Tragically, Police Scotland released a statement yesterday that a body was found on marsh ground between Easterhouse and Gartloch Village, and that Rhys’s family had been informed.

Family friend Amanda Parsons took to Facebook on behalf of his mum, Stephanie Bonner, to say: “I’ve been asked on behalf of the Bonner family to put this post on. They want to thank everyone for their help and support over these past 15 days on the search for Rhys.

“Unfortunately they didn’t get the outcome we were all praying for but from the bottom of their hearts they will be forever grateful to you all.”

A Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed that Rhys’s death is being treated as unexplained while a post mortem is carried out.

Our thoughts are with all of his family and friends following yesterday’s sad news.
