Family of otters spotted playing on the shore in the Water of Leith

A family of otters has posed for pictures after again being spotted on the banks of the Water of Leith.

Stuart Maxwell spotted a female otter with three cubs near the Water of Leith visitor centre in Craiglockhart on Tuesday.

The cubs were seen splashing around in the fast-flowing water, with one enjoying a piggyback from its mother.

In December, two otters were filmed frolicking near St Bernard's Well in central Edinburgh.

There was another sighting of wild otters at Dean Bridge back in June.

There have been rumours of a very rare albino otter further upstream in West Lothian.
