A man, in his 30s, was arrested on suspicion of Ms Ford's murder and has since been released on bail pending further enquiries.

An investigation remains ongoing and police say they are keeping an open mind about the events that led to her death.

"Our diamond of a daughter was so kind and giving and had a heart of gold," said Charlotte's mother, Lesley Ford, speaking to the Manchester Evening News .

"She had the biggest most beautiful personality and lit up a room when she walked in.

"She was an incredible Mum to her three year old son Arlo, he was her world and she idolised him.

"She was loved and adored by so many. Our grief and loss is immeasurable."

Friends of Ms Ford echoed the words of her family, saying she 'adored' her young son.

"Charlotte was an amazing soul. She always wanted to help people and fix people," she said.

"She was hilarious, bubbly and bright. She would walk into a room a light it right up.

"One of those people! Popular, adored her son."

Close friend, Lee Griffiths, wrote: "Most of us will remember her for her kindness, warmth, and smile.

Officers and crime scene investigators could be seen throughout the day on Saturday moving in and out of the 12-storey high-rise block of flats where Ms Ford was found.

In an earlier statement, Detective Inspector Victoria Wade of GMP's Major Incident Team, said: "Sadly a woman has lost her life and, as always, our priority is ensuring we can provide her loved ones with the support and answers that they need at this devastating time.

"I would stress that our enquiries are in their initial stages and we are keeping an open mind as we investigate the full circumstances surrounding her death and I would urge the public to avoid speculation at this time."
