Family of mum found dead after disappearing remembered on what would have been her wedding

The family of a mum found dead in the sea after vanishing on her friend's hen do will remembered her today on what would have been her wedding day.

Ruth Maguire, 30, from County Down, Ireland had travelled to County Louth in March with friends.

Miss Maguire, a mum of three, was part of a hen do group visiting the village ahead of their pal's wedding when she got separated from the group.

Extensive searches took place and her body was recovered from close to Haulbowline Lighthouse near Greenore.

Today her family will travel to the location where she was found by ferry.

Paul O’Sullivan, managing director of Carlingford Lough Ferry confirmed that a special sailing is being provided this evening for Miss Maguire's family as they mark the day.

The ferry will leave Greenore at around 9.30pm and, close to the lighthouse, it will shut off the engines and allow a moment of silence.

  silence.

The lighthouse will be illuminated at the time.

Mr O’Sullivan said it was a small gesture by the company on a day when her family would otherwise have been celebrating her wedding.

The ferry will then travel on to Greencastle in Co Down.

Ruth was buried in her wedding dress.
