Family of missing Scots man desperate to know he's safe as they plea for his return

The family of a missing Scots man have issued a desperate plea for his return while describing his disappearance as 'out of character'.

John Fitzsimons, was last seen on Tuesday October 26 and was first reported missing on Monday November 1.

He lives at a hostel in Glasgow city centre and usually sees his mum and sister around two or three times a week.

However, the 29-year-old has not been to see his family for an entire week.

John's sister, Emma Fitzsimons, said: "He likes his own company, he doesn’t bother with many people.

"It's out of character for him not to go to his hostel. He has been in and out of hostels for almost four years."

The family have checked hospitals and prisons and reported John's disappearance to the police but there remains no sign of him.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "John Fitzsimons was reported missing on Monday, 1 November."

"Enquiries are ongoing to trace him."

Emma added: "We really miss you John and just want to know you're safe and well.

"Please get in touch as we are all worried."
