Family of missing Lanarkshire man made aware of body found in River Clyde

The family of a man missing from North Lanarkshire have been made aware of a body found in the Clyde.

Police Scotland confirmed this morning that they recovered the body of a male from the water near to Clydebank.

Officers were called to the River Clyde, near to Clydebank Leisure Centre, Aurora Avenue, around 2.55pm on Tuesday.

A spokesman for the force told Lanarkshire Live: “Formal identification is yet to take place, however, the family of Derek Beattie has been made aware.”

Derek was reported missing from the Harthill area on November 27.

There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the man’s death.

A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.
