Family of missing Amy Fitzpatrick break silence on 'obvious leads' in disappearance case

THE family of Dublin girl Amy Fitzpatrick, who went missing in Spain have set up a petition calling for a cold case review.

Amy went missing from her home in Riviera Del Sol, Mijas Costa, near the resort of Fuengirola in January 2008.

Christopher Fitzpatrick, Amy’s dad, and her aunt Christine Kenny, have set the petition up online – entitled The Amy Fitzpatrick petition for a right to a cold case for all missing abroad in the EU.

The petition will then be presented to the EU Parliament and the Irish Government calling for an automatic right for cold case reviews for Amy and for other people whose loved ones are missing abroad.

Amy’s dad had claimed the Guardia Civil did not follow up on obvious leads in its probe into Amy’s disappearance.

In their petition, Christopher and Christine wrote: “Our family gets no updates from Spanish police.

“We have been trying to get a cold case review by the national police but are told they do not do cold cases in Spain.

“We would like to fight for the automatic right for a cold case review for all of the EU.”
