Family of missing Ayrshire man growing increasingly concerned as cops launch appeal to public

The family of a missing Ayrshire man are growing increasingly concerned for his safety, as police launch an appeal to the public for information.

Ian Cameron was last seen on October 6 when he left his home in New Cumnock just before midnight to head to work.

The 62-year-old got in his silver Seat Leon car (vehicle registration number, YE06 HDX) and left his house in Milray Avenue however he did not arrive at work.

On October 8 his employer contacted his family to advise Ian had not been at work for several days and on October 9 his family reported him missing to police.

Ian is described as white, around 5’ 4 – 5’ 5 inches in height, with a medium build, long grey/white hair, often worn in a ponytail. When last seen, he was wearing a beige coloured polo shirt, navy blue combat trousers, a navy blue fleece and black shoes.

Police say they have launched extensive enquiries to locate Ian.

They have gathered a CCTV sighting of him around midnight, carrying a large overnight bag. Enquiries have also indicated that his car was in the Luncarty area north of Perth around 5am on October 7, 2020.

There have been no further sightings of Ian or his vehicle since then.

Sergeant Paul Tomkinson said: “I am appealing to anyone who may have seen Ian or his car to contact us. His family is very concerned and just want to know he is safe and well.

“We know his vehicle was in the Luncarty area and we are checking for any other sightings, however, at this stage, we have been unable to confirm if Ian left that area to travel further north or east or if he has stayed in the location.

“If anyone has any information or knowledge as to Ian’s whereabouts, please contact us.

“Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 3746 of Friday, 9 October, 2020.”
