Family of missing autistic man Mark Wright "devastated" as "outcome wasn’t what we wanted"

A body has been tragically found in the search for missing Mark Wright.

The 24-year-old East Belfast man, who had autism, had been missing from his home since Thursday morning.

His family said today : "We as a family want to thank everyone who’s helped in the search for mark, unfortunately the outcome wasn’t what we wanted and he was found today.

"We are absolutely devastated and heartbroken and can’t thank you all enough for your help."

Police issued an urgent missing persons appeal to try and locate him on Saturday.

His sister Ashlee Johnston told Belfast Live on Sunday night that the disappearance had been "out of character" for the Knocknagoney man.

A PSNI spokesperson added: "Police searching for missing person Mark Wright have recovered a body in Glenview Drive in Belfast this morning (Monday 7th September).

"A post mortem will be carried out to determine the cause of death.

"There are no further details at the time."
