The family of the London Bridge attacker has condemned his vile actions tonight.
Usman Khan's relatives said they were "saddened and shocked" after his rampage in the capital on Friday.
"We are saddened and shocked by what Usman has done," the family statement said.
"We totally condemn his actions and we wish to express our condolences to the families of the victims that have died and wish a speedy recovery to all of the injured.
"We would like to request privacy for our family at this difficult time."
Khan stabbed to death University of Cambridge graduates 25-year-old Jack Merritt and Saska Jones, 23, during a prisoner rehabilitation event.
The 28-year-old terrorist was armed with two knives and a suicide vest, and was shot dead by specialist armed Met Police officers on London Bridge on Friday.
Khan was convicted and jailed for plotting to blow up the London Stock Exchange in 2012 but the sentence was quashed at the Court of Appeal one year later.
He was given a determinate 16-year jail term, with a five-year extended licence period, which meant he was released automatically halfway through the sentence.
The law changed in 2012 - and if Khan was given the same sentence today, he would have had to serve at least two-thirds of the term and would only be released if the Parole Board agreed.
Both victims were involved in the Learning Together programme – Jack as a co-ordinator and Saskia as a volunteer.
The grief-stricken family of Saskia, from Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire, have paid a devastating tribute to her, describing her as a positive influence at the centre of many people’s lives.
And Jack's mournful family, from Cottenham, Cambridgeshire, also released a poignant tribute today, saying he "believed in redemption and rehabilitation, not revenge."
They said "Jack would not want this terrible, isolated incident to be used as a pretext by the government for introducing even more draconian sentences on prisoners."
The University of Cambridge confirmed two of their graduates had been killed and a third member of staff among the injured.
