Family of ITV2 Love Island's Curtis Pritchard explain brutal dumping of Amy Hart on ITV This Morning

The family of Love Island's Curtis Pritchard have explained the reasons behind his brutal dumping of Amy Hart.

His mum, Debi, dad Adrian and brother AJ appeared on the This Morning sofa and told presenters Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield what they think happened in the villa.

Debi, holding back tears, said: "It's so emotional - to feel Curtis' pain, and not even to realise the pain Amy's going through, and Amy's parents..."

"I think it [Curtis and Amy's relationship] was real, every second of those weeks was so real. When the bubble burst because of Casa Amor, he was out of the bubble and maybe he questioned it and he went crazy."

Strictly star AJ agreed, he said: "He is so honest, maybe too brutally honest.

"It was kind of a holiday romance, and Casa Amor gave him time to think.

"Curt wears his heart on his sleeve. He doesn't process things, he just does."

Debi added: "Amy hasn't had a relationship and he has only had one, which was his dance partner. So, they were both innocent to the pain of relationships."

She also said Curtis wasn't playing a game, otherwise he would have just played along with it.

Debi said: "I was so proud of him [being honest] because he knew on the outside and the inside his popularity would decline because he wasn't playing a game, because he wasn't going to play a game at the expense of someone's feelings."

His dad Adrian, told Holly and Phil he knew something wasn't right, he said: "Originally I was thinking is this [Love Island] the right thing to do? But that is Curtis, he thinks he is on holiday and it is a terrific job really.

"But I could tell with his body language something wasn't right."

His mum revealed Curtis had been approached by a researcher to appear in a dating show, but after speaking with AJ, she told him if he wanted to do a dating show, he would have to go big and apply for Love Island.

Debi added: "He wouldn't have gone on without our support."

Revealing what they think of his potential new love interest, Irish ring girl Maura Higgins, AJ said: "She is going for it, he doesn't really have a choice at the moment.

"I think she is great for him."
