A family of four were rescued after being stranded out at sea at Sandymount this afternoon.
The Irish Coast Guard at Dun Laoghaire were called to the scene with a rescue helicopter and lifeboat crews deployed to the South Dublin sunspot.
The rising tide had cut the family of two adults and two children off from the shore and left them stuck on a sandbank.
The helicopter safely landed and picked up the family, who despite the scary situation were said to be in "good spirits".
A Coast Guard statement read: "A family of four was cut off by the tide on Sandymount this afternoon.
"Irish Coast Guard - Dun Laoghaire we’re tasked to incident along with Rescue 116 Dublin SAR and RNLI ILB from Dun Laoghaire.
"On arrival the casualties were identified (2 adults and 2 children) with Rescue 116 Dublin SAR landing on the sandbank and taking the family onboard and landing close to land to hand them over to an Irish Coast Guard team. All were in good spirits.
"Thank you everyone for their assistance this afternoon.
"Remember if you see anyone in difficulty in or near the water, dial 112/999 immediately and ask for the Coast Guard."
