Family of four escape home in Moston after it becomes engulfed by flames

A family have managed to safely escape their home in Moston after it was engulfed by flames.

Two adults and two children, aged 10 and 15, fled the house on Bordale Avenue after the blaze began shortly after 8pm on Thursday evening.

Pictures from the scene show all front windows of the property blown out by the fire - the cause of which is under investigation.

It is not believed there are any injuries.

Four fire crews were scrambled to the scene along with a number of police vehicles.

A cordon is likely to remain in place until the morning to allow police and fire chiefs to carry out their enquries.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire Service said: "We were called shortly after 8pm to reports of a house fire.

"Four fire engines were in attendance. Now only one fire engine remains on the scene.

"When we arrived two adults and two children, aged 10 and 15, had self-rescued themselves from the property.

"The house was well alight when crews arrived and we are now salvaging and clearing debris from within the property.

Four fire engines were in attendance (ASP)

"A police cordon is likely to remain overnight and our fire investigation team will be heading back to the scene tomorrow morning."
