Family of arena bomb victim donate £1,000 in memory of LFC fan who died on Christmas Day

Donations have flooded in to support the family of a 12-year-old boy who died on Christmas Day.

Schoolboy Cason Hallwood had woken up excited to open his presents on December 25, and enjoyed Christmas dinner at his grandparents' just hours before he collapsed and died.

The LFC fan from Winsford, Cheshire was described as "the light of his family's life" and "no day was ever the same as the next with him."

A Go Fund Me page, set up by family friend Sam Decruz to raise money for the family and cover the cost of Cason's funeral, is close to reaching its £15,000 target, having raised £13,167 in just three days.

Generous donations have flooded in from 761 people - including a £1,000 donation from the family charity of Megan Hurley, who was killed in the Manchester Arena bombing.

Halewood schoolgirl Megan Hurley, 15, was one of the 22 people killed at the Ariana Grande concert on May 22, 2017.

In a message on the page, Sam thanked those who have supported the appeal on behalf of Cason's mum Louise and the family.

She wrote: "On behalf of Cason's family. They would all like to say a massive heartfelt thank you.

"To everyone who's shown nothing but love kindness and support in their time of need, Louise is humbled and overwhelmed with the love shown, but at this time she's not ready to reply. But she sees everything.

"So thank you all so much."

Cason, 12, collapsed on Christmas Day hours after complaining of being short of breath.

His mum, Louise, rushed Cason to Wharton Recreation Park and gave her son, who had asthma and a nut allergy, a shot from his epinephrine auto-injector to try and revive him but when this failed she rang for an ambulance.

The Winsford Academy pupil was rushed to Leighton Hospital in Crewe but sadly died a short time later.

There has been an outpouring of tributes and condolences to the family on social media, with many expressing their shock and heartbreak at the news.
