A couple have disappeared with their two young children after attending a family court hearing.

Detectives have launched a nationwide hunt after Sarah Jane Joyce, 26, and Michael Gavin, 25, from Oldham, went missing a week ago with their seven-month-old daughter and Joyce’s two-year-old daughter.

The couple were last seen at 12 noon on 17 February at Manchester family court.

DS John Coleman said: “We are deeply concerned for the welfare of this family, who have not been seen by friends and family for almost a week. We need to know whether both parents and children are safe, and where they are currently staying. The welfare of the children is of the highest priority, so if you see Sarah, Michael and the children please contact police with a matter of urgency.”

The mother was reportedly seen in Tameside on Tuesday.

Anyone with information about the family’s whereabouts is asked to call police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
