Family mark 21st birthday of teen who died in city shooting

The family of a Liverpool teenager who died after he was shot in the back have marked what would have been his 21st birthday.

Paramedics fought to save the life of Nyle Corrigan after he was shot on November 12 2020. Nyle, aged 19, died at the scene. The emergency services had been called out to Boode Croft in Stockbridge Village at around 6.30pm on November 12 2020 following reports of a shooting.

Today (Tuesday) Nyle's family marked what would have been his 21st birthday, as police renewed appeals for information about his killing. To date 11 people have been arrested in connection with his death, but there have been no charges made.

Detective Chief Inspector Cath Cummings, who is leading the murder investigation, said: "It is 17 months since the death of Nyle following a shooting in Stockbridge Village. Nyle’s family will commemorate his 21st birthday today but do so without him and without seeing the person or people responsible for his death behind bars where they rightly belong.

“Although we have made considerable progress with the investigation since that time, and arrested 11 people, we still need people to come forward with information if they haven’t already done so.

"Information and CCTV could be crucial and I would appeal directly to anyone who was driving in the area at the time and has any information to contact us.

"There is no place in Merseyside for firearms, and anyone who stores them or uses them to cause fear, injury or worse are simply not welcome here. I would urge anyone who saw anything or who has any information which could help us with our enquiries to contact us urgently. You may not think that the information you have is significant but it could help us with our enquiries."

Anyone who has any information which could help detectives with their inquiries can contact the Facebook ‘Merseyside Police Contact Centre’ quoting the reference number 2000068886.

Alternatively, you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously, on 0800 555 111 or via their online form at: https://crimestoppers-uk.org/give-information/give-information.
