A brave "family man" has been branded a "hero" after incredible footage emerged of him chasing down a suspected thief who had apparently stolen a purse.
A video shared on TikTok by his wife Nicole shows Darren Brownson grappling with a hooded man before hurling him to the floor and retrieving the purse.
According to Nicole's post, she and Darren were driving on a street in Farnham, Surrey, when he saw the alleged thief snatching the purse and running away with it.
He then stops the car to pull over, leaps out and starts running after the suspect.
The 36-year-old self-described "family man" can then be seen grappling with the man outside a restaurant as he shouts: "You f******g stole that."
Darren can then be heard telling the man "you are scumbag" while holding him in a neck lock.
He then hurls him to the ground and tells him to "run" before retrieving the handbag and casually walking back to his wife, who filmed the heroic act from the car.
In captions on the video, which has now racked up more than four million views on TikTok alone, Nicole said: "So my husband saw a purse getting snatched today.
"He pulled over, chased the guy down and retrieved the purse then returned it to the owner."
Nicole can at one point be heard telling a shocked passer-by: "Someone stole a handbag"
Darren managed to return the handbag to its owner, Nicole said, as she called for her TikTok fans to "show my hero some love".
People heaped praise on Darren as they replied to Nicole's video, which is captioned: "I couldn't love him more".
