Family make emotional plea for missing Glasgow man who vanished on his way to work

Cops are scouring a canal for a married Glasgow man who vanished on his way to work earlier this week.

Gregor Gibbons , 32, was last spotted leaving his home in Colston at around 6pm on Tuesday.

His family have now made an emotional plea for him to come home after describing his disappearance as ‘completely out of character’.

He got into his white Ford Fiesta to go to his printing job but never appeared at his place of work - and has failed to return home.

The last sighting of him was on the Forth and Clyde Canal Path between Kirkintilloch and Twechar between 8pm and 10pm on Tuesday.

Gregor is described as 5ft 5in, with shaved hair and is believed to be wearing a black Nike hooded top, black sports shorts and black Sketchers trainers.

Police confirmed they found his car earlier today at Grove Park Street in Maryhill.

Officers are now examining CCTV footage and have also drafted in support from the force’s marine branch to help search the canal.

Gregor’s wife Leanne, 34, yesterday made an emotional appeal for information alongside Gregor’s dad Robert, 54.

Fighting back tears she said: “Gregor, I don’t know why you have not been in touch but we all love you and want you to come home.

“All of us, especially our nephews Aaron, Max and Scott, miss you very much and we just want you back.

“Please get in touch with us to let us know you are okay. We are appealing to anyone with any information to contact police as soon as possible."

Inspector Pauline Thomson said: “Police Scotland are seeking the assistance of the public in the investigation to find Gregor.

“We are working along with the family and we are really pleased with the public response

“Our investigation at the moment has focused around speaking with Gregor’s family, friends and work colleagues.

“We’ve had support from our dog branch, air support unit and we are focusing our inquiries along the canal paths between Maryhill and Kirkintilloch.

“We are following up all leads concerning possible sightings of Gregor and I would ask the public to continue to look out for him.

“His car was found yesterday morning in Grove Park Street in Maryhill. Inquires are ongoing in relation to CCTV to trace any potential sightings of Gregor.

“Police officers are on foot and off road bikes along the canal path to make sure Gregor hasn’t perhaps tripped or fallen and we are looking for his safe return.”

Anyone with information should contact Police via 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, quoting incident number 0119.
