Family 'lose everything' in fire that killed beloved daughter and also destroyed their home and possessions

A family "lost everything" in a fire that killed a beloved daughter and sister. A house fire in Pontyglasier, Pembrokeshire, on Saturday has left a family with no home or possessions and the devastating loss of five-year-old Alysia Salisbury.

Dyfed-Powys Police said officers attended a property in the Pontyglasier area near Crymych following reports of a house fire shortly before 10pm on Saturday, May 27. Despite the efforts of emergency services five-year-old Alysia died at the scene.

A fundraiser has been set up by a family friend to support the family through this horrific time. Organiser Beccy Eynon said donations will go towards helping Alysia's mum Tara pay for her daughter's funeral as well as going towards helping the family find a new home to live in after they lost everything in the fire.

Beccy said: "Alysia was a sweet, happy little girl who loved animals and the great outdoors. She was happiest out in the rain wearing nothing but a T-shirt and shorts. She adored her two older sisters, Abigail and Jessica, and they took such good care of her."

Meanwhile the local community has rallied round to support the Salisburys and offer them essential supplies. County councillor Shon Rees told The Sun: “Our thoughts at present are with the family during this awful and tragic time. This family has lost absolute everything, including a young child, and we as a community are doing everything we possibly can to support them." On Sunday he and Cllr Davies organised a collection of food and clothing. They thanked the community for their "overwhelming generosity and compassion" with their donations so far.

In a tribute released via Dyfed-Powys Police on Sunday Alysia's family described her as a "beautiful daughter and sister". The family are currently being supported by specialist officers.

In a statement released on Sunday DCI Llyr Williams said: “Our thoughts are with the family and the local community at this tragic time. HM Coroner has been informed and officers will now work with colleagues form the fire service to establish the cause of the fire. The family request privacy at this difficult time.”

If you would like to make a donation to the fundraiser you can do so here. There will also be a collection box at Unit 12A, Parcgwynfryn, Crymych, and Cilgerran shop to accept any donations.
