Thorntons has appointed family law expert Lucy Metcalf as a director at its Edinburgh office.
The accredited specialist joins associate Jenny Broatch and partner Alasdair Docwra in the full service law firm's family law team. She previously worked as a family law director for Lindsays in Edinburgh and before that for Tods Murray.
She has practised exclusively in litigation and specialised in family law for most of her career and is a member of the Family Law Association, of Consensus, the Scottish Collaborative Family Lawyers Group, and a trustee of Scottish Adoption.
Metcalf will advise on all aspects of family law including the financial consequences of divorce, pre and post-nuptial agreements, cohabitation disputes and agreements, child law and adoption.
The University of Edinburgh graduate has expertise in cases involving company and partnership valuations and pension sharing, and extensive agreement in negotiating and drafting complex minutes of agreement dealing with the disposal and transfer of business assets.
