Family launch frantic search for missing Scots pensioner after finding empty house

Police are searching for a pensioner who disappeared in Montrose on Monday afternoon.

John Flett, 78, was last seen in the Angus town’s Wellington Park at about 4.30pm.

He is white, around 5ft. 4 inches in height with a medium build and short, greying, hair.

His family visited him on Tuesday morning, found his house empty and immediately raised the alarm.

John has never gone missing before and is always in touch with his family.  They are extremely worried about him.

Officers are working to piece together his movements and are appealing to anyone who may have seen him recently to get in touch.

Extensive enquiries are being carried out to locate John but attempts to trace him have so far proved unsuccessful.

Inspector Martin Pattie said:  “This is very out of character for John and we have real concerns regarding his well-being.

"A number of enquiries are under way to try and find John and I would appeal to anyone who may have seen him or who has any information as to his whereabouts to contact us as a matter of urgency.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 754 of 20 October 2020.
