Family Kilmarnock business devastated as sick vandals target sports pitches

A family-run business have been devastated by another spate of vandalism.

SoccerWorld in Kilmarnock's pitches were covered in paint by reckless vandals.

And the business says that it's hard enough surviving a pandemic without extra costs of cleaning up needless mess.

They posted on their social media saying: "During this extremely difficult time for the business it is upsetting that time and time again we have come in to find needless, destructive vandalism has been inflicted on our pitches and centre.

"We are a family run business and took over this site to turn round an ailing site, save jobs and give the community a site to be proud of.

"We've invested a huge amount of money to date on improvements and had committed to spending more to replace even more pitches and infrastructure.

"Lockdown and Covid-19 has hit us hard and we were £1000s of pounds on repairs to damage done throughout lockdown, but we weathered that and came back stronger with the centre providing a well needed place for people to get active and sociable during the aftermath of the lockdown and ongoing restrictions.

"Every time we have to deal with an incident like this, especially at at time when we have no income coming in because of the current lockdown-lite, it pushes us closer to redundancies and eventually closure.

"If it keeps going on it will cost jobs.

"We want to be able to keep improving the centre, providing newer and better facilities but we need the communities help to do so.

"If you want to use the facilities pay for it, respect the staff and pitches and clean up after yourself and if you've bought a tin of paint in order to throw it over someone else's property... do us all a favour and *insert swear word here* off."

Anyone with any information about the vandalism should contact SoccerWorld directly.
