Family informed as body found during search for Melita Hachey in Kelso

The family of missing woman Melita Hachey have been informed after a body was found during the search for her in the Scottish Borders.

A large-scale search for the 30-year-old was launched after she was reported missing from her home in Galashiels on February 22.

Her family described her disappearance as a "living nightmare." She had left her home the day before being reported missing.

Police used drones to search an area around the the River Tweed and drivers were urged to share dashcam footage.

The body of a woman was discovered near Kelso around 5.30pm on Monday, March 2.

Police Scotland said: "Formal identification has yet to take place however, the family of 30-year-old Melita Hachey who was reported missing from Galashiels on Saturday, 22 February, 2020, has been informed."
