Missing Scots dad and 12-year-old son found after frantic search

An urgent search was launched for a missing father and his 12-year-old son last seen yesterday afternoon.

Thomas and Alan Caldwell, 48, were last in contact with their family at 1.30pm on Monday after driving to get a haircut at a Turkish barbers in West Calder.

The pair have since been traced safe and well.

Worried daughter Chloe posted an appeal for information on Facebook in a bid to trace them.

Thomas and Alan were reported missing from Polbeth, West Lothian, and were last seen travelling in a purple/grey Volvo.

Chloe's post said: "Has anyone seen my brother and dad, they have been out of contact since half 1.

"Last seen in my dads purple/grey Volvo. My dad was taking Thomas to get his haircut at the Turkish barbers in West calder, we are hoping that they have just drove somewhere to go a walk and have broken down.

"Can everyone please keep an eye out for them, names Thomas and Alan Caldwell. Car Reg is SL05 LPP."

Police urged anyone with information to get in touch.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "Officers in West Lothian are carrying out enquiries to trace father and son Alan Caldwell (48) and Thomas Caldwell (12), who have been reported missing from Polbeth.

"They were last seen around 1pm on Monday, 12 April, and are believed to be travelling in a purple Volvo S40 (SL05 LPP).

"Anyone with information should contact the police on 101, quoting incident 3513 of 12 April."
