Family 'heartbroken' as tributes pour in after tragic death of popular Irishman 'whose smile lit up a room'

Tributes are pouring in for a young man with a "beautiful soul" after he tragically passed away in recent days.

Joe McCraith died unexpectedly on Sunday, with his family "heartbroken" following the devastating news.

The young man, from Clogheen, in Co Tipperary, was a talented sportsman who worked as a health care assistant.

Dungarvan Boxing Club said: "We here at the Dungarvan boxing club are deeply saddened to learn of our club mates passing. Rest in Peace Joe McCraith. Condolences to all your family and friends at this devastating time."

Vee Rovers added: "Everyone here at Vee Rovers would like to extend our deepest sympathy to the McCraith family on the sudden passing of Joe. May he rest in peace."

Friends and members of the local community in both Tipperary and Waterford paid tribute to the popular young man.

One friend said this week: "We got the terrible news today of the passing of our club mate Joe McCraith. Another young life taken way too soon. May you rest in peace Joe. See you on the other side my friend."

A former colleague at South Tipperary General Hospital said: "Rest in peace Joe you truly will be missed, may you have the best bed in heaven.

"STGH will miss you, condolences to all your family and friends and work friends as well you truly made a room light up with your presence and a smile that made everyone in STGH want to know you.

"It was a pleasure to have worked with you, you are one of a kind Joe. I think everyone in STGH who had the honour to have known you will cherish the memories. Fly high in the sky and be free, missed by so many."

One friend said: "Such a lovely young man, will be sadly missed."

A second said: "Another beautiful soul gone way too soon. He would light up a room with his smile you will be sadly missed. RIP Joe."

A third wrote: "Rest in peace Joe you are one of the nicest people anyone could ever meet.

A fourth added: "R.I.P joe, a good friend gone too soon"

Someone else said: "R.I.P. Joe you absolute gent."

While another added: "One of the kindest people around, rest in peace Joe."

Joe will be laid to rest on Saturday following a funeral mass at St Mary’s Church, Clogheen at 11am.
