Family heartbroken as missing Glasgow man Joseph Duffy believed dead

A Glasgow man reported missing from his home over the weekend is believed to have died.

The sister of Joseph Duffy, who was reported missing from Newlands on Friday, confirmed on social media that he "is no longer with us".

Christina Cowie posted an emotional message on Facebook this afternoon following a desperate appeal to trace Joseph.

She said: "I am absolutely heartbroken and devastated to say my wonderful amazing kind brother is no longer with us.

"He was just the best person ever and I can’t even begin to think about life without him.

"I love you more than you’ll ever know Joe. Miss you always. Give daddy and Uncle Frank a big kiss from me."

Joseph's fiancé Jennifer Abdullah said she was "broken" after losing her soul mate.

She said: "You were my world, soul mate and best friend! You made me the happiest girl alive especially through my hard times.

"I have never met the most genuine, loving, happiest guy who has shown me how to love. Our time was short but it has been the most happiest time of my life. I will love you always and forever my angel. Love you."

Joseph's family made a desperate appeal to trace him after he went missing from his home in Newlands on Friday evening.

Christina explained that police are now searching for Joseph's body after new information emerged earlier today.

She added: "We, as a family would also like to thank everyone for their continuous support, shares and searches carried out. We are so grateful for it all.

"Rest easy Joe! You’re at peace now".
